Some people.... (vent ahead...)

My two older boys went to a woodcarving class today. It was waaaay out in the boonies. It took us half an hour to get there, and it was only an hour long class.

So, I dropped the boys off and the two littles and I tried driving around to find a place where we could pull off the road and wait without getting the neighbors freaked out.

Then dd says she has to go potty. We're in the middle of the boonies, but there were a lot of new houses, so no privacy. I turned around the corner and what to my wondering eyes would appear but a tiny little drug store!

By this time dd is practically in tears, she has to go so bad. We go in there and dd asked the sales lady (very politely) if she could use the restroom. The lady said, "No. We don't have public restrooms."

I stepped in and said, "I understand that, but she is little and really has to go."

She said, "I'm sorry but we have had a lot of vandalism lately."

I said, "Well, you don't have to worry about that."

She said, "I'm sorry. No."

I said, "Do you know where the nearest restroom is? I'm not from around here."

She said, "There's a gas station."

I asked, "Where is that?"

She waived her hand in the air and said "Down there."

All the while, my dd is dancing because she has to go so bad.

I took off to find this gas station "Down there." No such luck. We ended up pulling off to the side of the road and she squat behind a clump of grass!

I just couldn't believe that lady (and her supervisor) would not let a young child use the restroom!

Some people!

Superman and my kids have something in common!

My dh set up an audition for Josiah and Christalin for a Disney show of some sort. He heard the commercial on a Christian radio station in our area. (Our kids have done lots of acting and have been on tv several times. They really love to do that sort of thing.) I wasn't sure if I was going to go, since it was snowing.

Well, the snow let up, so I decided to go ahead and go. From what my dh said, it was supposed to be an audition for a part in a Disney show. Well, it wasn't. It was an acting school trying to get new students! I was a bit frustrated. I tried not to let it show, so the kids could enjoy it anyway. They had two auditions. One for the school, and one with an agent that actually has booked actors for Disney. There just wasn't an opening right now that they were auditioning for.

Christalin and Josiah did the audition since they told me that only two kids were allowed per family. They really loved them and said they would call us back. Not that we could afford to send the kids to the acting school in Seattle!

The agent was the agent that signed Superman. The kids thought that was pretty neat. Christalin and Josiah tried out and did a pretty good job. The agent asked me if my other two kids wanted to audition too. I said, yes, but they told me only two kids. He handed me a script and told me to have the boys look over it, but just to stand to the side, not to go to the back of the very long line.

They did their audition well! I was about to bee-line it out of there, since it was already 9:00 p.m. While another kid was auditioning, the agent called out to me to come back and he wanted our phone number! (I felt sorry for the kid auditioning.) So he took our number and we'll see!

All in all the kids were excited to have an audition with a famous agent. Even if nothing comes of it, it was fun nevertheless.

I did it! I did it!

My women's hiking group went snowshoeing on Saturday. I was so iffy about whether I wanted to try and go or not. I have a hip problem that seizes up in the cold. Plus there have been avalanches in our area. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to try it or not. Friday morning I went to a Yoga class (for the first time...) with the girls. They were both definitely going to go. Then I started getting excited about trying it myself. I ran out and rented the snowshoes and borrowed a pair of snow pants. The kids had an over-nighter with their worship team at the church Friday night. I was chaperoning the event. Read- I got NO SLEEP!!!! The kids were just too excited to sleep. By morning, I was exhausted and a bit grumpy. But I had already arranged transportation and rented the snowshoes so I was going!

It was one of the hardest things I ever done. The weather was beautiful. There was snow blanketing all the trees and everything. A soft snow fell the whole time we were there. It was a pretty dry snow so we didn't get too wet. We started out on the trail, and it was going up hill. My understanding was that we would be going on a flat trail around a lake. However, this trail kept going up and up and up! Out of the seven women, I was definitely the slowest. My lungs were screaming, my legs were screeching, but I kept plodding along. My snowshoes were an older style, and seemed to be real long on me. I felt like I was dragging the mountain up the mountain with me. Fortunately, the guy at the store showed me how to take the back end part off. So I did that. It was a bit better, but still, I was having troubles. About halfway up, one of the ladies suggested I take the snowshoes off completely. So, I did. Victory! I could almost keep up with the ladies then!

After going up the mountain for an hour, we finally asked some snowshoe-ers who were coming down the mountain how far the lake was. It turns out we were on the wrong trail! So I put my snowshoes back on (It started snowing harder, so I was starting to need them) and we came back down the mountain. We stopped for a quick lunch and went out looking for the trail to the lake.

We found the trail and found the lake. The hike wasn't very hard at all. Not nearly as hard as going up the mountain! We hiked for about another hour and built a snowman too. It was a lot of fun.

My legs are still pretty sore. (I did Body Step at the gym this morning and about died!) It was a beautiful trip, a challenging trip. I'm glad I did it!

More beautiful Music and Verses..

I went back to You tube to listen to the song I posted last month. I found another beautiful song that I wanted to share with you all. I hope you enjoy it.

It is always good to remember to Praise Him no matter what.

Sometimes He Calms the Storm

I was going through my computer looking for a certain picture and I found this poem. I don't know who wrote it, but it has a timely message. I hope it comforts you too.

Sometimes He Calms the Storm

All who sail the sea of faith
Find out before too long
How quickly blue skies can grow dark
And gentle winds grow strong
Suddenly fear is like white water
Pounding on the soul
Still we sail on knowing
That our Lord is in control.

Sometimes He calms the storm
With a whispered “Peace be still”
He can settle any sea
But it doesn’t mean He will
Sometimes He holds us close
And lets the wind and waves go wild
Sometimes He calms the storm
And other times He calms His child.

He has a reason for each trial
That we pass through in life
And though we’re shaken
We cannot be pulled apart from Christ
No matter how the driving rain beats down
On those who hold to faith
A heart of trust will always
Be a quiet peaceful place.

How sweet is that?

I haven't been feeling that great lately. A lot of aches and pains due to fibromyalgia and dysmenorrea (sp?).

I was sitting in my office and I guess I moaned. Joseph heard me and asked what was wrong. I told him I hurt. He said, "Let's pray about it!" Then he said the sweetest prayer asking God to heal my hurts.

Awww... out of the mouth of babes... I don't know why I didn't think to pray about it myself! Thank you Lord for a gentle reminder.
